Flaxseed Oil
Flax seed is used in all forms – oil, seed, meal in every form. Also known as Linseed oil, it is a golden yellow oil obtained from the dried, ripened seeds of the flax plant (Lignum usitatissimum). The oil is obtained by cold pressing the seeds. It is a drying oil, meaning it can polymerize into a solid form.
Flaxseed oil is loaded with healthy omega-3 fatty acids that have been associated with healthier brains and hearts, better moods, decreased inflammation, and healthier skin and hair. Flaxseed oil contains 50% to 60% omega-3 fatty acids in the form of alpha-linolenic acid. That is why flaxseed oil is thought to be useful for rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory (swelling) diseases.
